Escape and an exit

There’s a difference in terminology throughout different industries and professions.  I usually choose my words carefully when speaking with people because I know that the incorrect word could cause people to whine and bitch.

First the bad part of my choosing to escape a position.  ESLR just didn’t work out in my favor, and since I was stupid and bought a close expiring option, I didn’t have the opportunity to ride out the current movement.  Thus, I chose to ESCAPE my position with a loss.  Please note, I don’t usually take a loss, I will ride something to complete worthlessness before taking a loss in normal circumstances.

Sold:
ESLR Jan08 $17.50 call (QLUAW), 10 @ $1.00
Entered 12/26 @ $1.95, exited 1/4 @ $1.00
  49% loss, - $970.00
  stock price when entered $18.08
  stock price when exited $17.08

Of course, watching the stock go up another penny doesn’t make me feel better about my choice to escape, but sometimes I do that sort of thing.

I chose this down market opportuntity to exit the SHLD put I had also, which currently is going lower, making me wonder why I exited this position for a profit but still won’t exit AAPL with a profit.

Sold:
SHLD Jan08 $110 puts (KTQMB), 1 @ $10.00
Entered 1/2 @ $7.80, exited 1/4 @ $10.00
  28% profit, $218.00
  stock price when entered $104.25
  stock price when exited $101.48

I’m currently going to be showing a loss for the end of day, but I think that I’ll be able to revenge trade ESLR to make up for it.

Oh ya, I’m wondering if anyone wants to actually tell me that America is not currently in a recession.  I believe that America is in a recession and that those that don’t agree are just denying it.  Please, step forward and tell me why we aren’t yet in a recession.
