US markets’ schedule for New Year’s holiday
Ya, chances are nobody is checking this site for the holiday schedule for the US markets, but that doesn’t stop me from posting it. So if you read this site for news, here you go!
Monday, Dec. 31:
The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association has recommended a 2 p.m. EST (1900 GMT) close for the U.S. government securities market. The recommendation also includes trading in mortgage securities, municipal bonds, over-the-counter investment grade corporate bonds and all secondary money market trading, including trading in Bankers Acceptances, Commercial Paper and Yankee and Euro certificates of deposit.
U.S. stock markets close will hold regular trading sessions.
Chicago Board of Trade: In pit trading, financial and full-sized agricultural products close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT), and mini-sized agricultural contracts close at 1:30 p.m. (1830 GMT.) In electronic trade, full-sized agricultural contracts close at 1 p.m. (1800 GMT), mini-sized agricultural contracts close at 1:30 p.m. (1830 GMT), and financial contracts close at 2 p.m. (1900 GMT.) Metals, equities and Dow-AIG contracts will trade normal hours. Overnight trading sessions will be closed.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange: Pit-traded commodity, foreign exchange and interest rate products will close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT), commodity options close at 1:02 p.m. (1802 GMT) and equity indexes close at 1:15 p.m. (1815 GMT) On the electronic platform, commodity products close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT), while foreign exchange, interest rate and equity index products all close at 4:15 p.m. (2115 GMT.)
ICE Futures: Financial products will close early, with the New York pit closing at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT) and screen trade ending at 1:15 p.m. (1815 GMT). Stock index contracts, both pit and electronic, will end at 1:15 p.m. EST (1815 GMT). All other products will trade regular hours.
Kansas City Board of Trade: Both pit and electronically traded wheat futures will close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT), while options will close at 1:10 p.m. EST (1810 GMT).
Minneapolis Grain Exchange: Both pit and electronically traded wheat futures will close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT), while options will close at 1:10 p.m. EST (1810 GMT).
New York Mercantile Exchange: All markets will trade normal hours.
Tuesday, Jan. 1:
All U.S. financial markets, exchanges and electronic trading will be closed during the day. Overnight trading sessions will open at normal times.
